Formed in 1903 the Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDA) is one of the
oldest and largest organizations of Catholic women in the Americas.
We are a national organization, with 63,000 dues-paying members in 1,150 courts (local chapters)
in 45 states across the country and in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.
We provide local spirituality, sharing and activity under the support of a vibrant national organization.
Members donate to charities, administer scholarship programs and strive
“to be helping hands where there is pain, poverty, sorrow or sickness.”
They embrace the principle of faith working through love in the promotion of
justice, equality and the advancement of human rights and human dignity for all.
Our local Court is hosting a membership drive during the month of October.
New members are always welcome throughout the year!

Our local CDA chapter, Court Craigie #94, is active throughout the Iowa City with the annual Lifesaver Campaign each April to help with domestic violence intervention in our community, a Patriotic Rosary in May, awarding college scholarships to local Catholic high school students, providing monthly meals at The Catholic Worker House, and hosting a sewing day each month to make dresses, diapers, shorts sets, and plastic mats for Orphan Grain Train to be distributed to the most needy communities around the world.
The group meets monthly and officers are installed in June every two years. Membership is open to Catholic women ages 18+. If you would like more information about CDA or would like to attend a meeting, please contact Gwen Thompson at gwenthompson013@gmail.com. 
Monique Schnoebelen received a $500 scholarship from the Catholic Daughters. She is a member of St. Mary's Parish in Iowa City.
CDA meets regularly to sew dresses and shorts for children in poor countries around the world.

Each year, CDA hosts a Patriotic Rosary outdoors at St. Wenceslaus in Iowa City.
